Insurance Institute Of The Eastern Cape | Insurance Industry

As an institute, the IIEC are there to provide and maintain a central organization for the promotion of efficiency, progress, welfare, knowledge, education and general development among persons engaged or employed in the insurance industry. We act as a networking platform to support professional standards while pursuing social issues in the Insurance Industry.

The history of the Insurance Institute goes back to 1898, when it was first established in Cape Town. Subsequent development saw further institutes develop in all the main cities and towns in South Africa, all affiliated to the Chartered Insurance Institute in London. The focus was the provision of insurance technical learning material - for distance learning and testing by examination. In 1966 the local institutes voted to form a central South Africa body and the Insurance Institute of South Africa was formed as an affiliate of the CII, with the local institutes in turn becoming affiliates of the IISA.

As an institute, we are there to provide and maintain a central organization for the promotion of efficiency, progress, welfare, knowledge, education and general development among persons engaged or employed in the insurance industry.

We act as a networking platform to support professional standards while pursuing social issues in the Insurance Industry. Insurance Institute of the eastern Cape strive fulfill our local networking function within the Eastern Cape, pursue common goals with the IISA, specifically in the area of professional standards, input on education and training and in the fulfillment of Continuous Professional Development practice.
